You may be eligible for a Residential Care Subsidy to help cover the cost of your care at a Ryman village. This subsidy is paid directly to Ryman by Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora. To qualify, you must: Be aged 65 or older, or 50-64 and single with no dependent children; Be assessed as needing long-term residential care; Pass a financial means assessment conducted by Work and Income NZ. Rest home care

Resthome residents receive the very best in clinical care, alongside the benefits of living in our friendly community. The care we provide is speciﬁc to your needs. We can assist you with anything from showering and assistance with dressing, to administering medicines – it simply depends on whatever your needs are at that time.

With this extra help, daily life carries on as normal. The activities and outings are all there for you to take advantage of, and we encourage you to make the most of what the care centre has to offer.

Using our award-winning myRyman Care app – located on multiple devices dedicated to our care centres – we create a detailed plan of care with you and your family. This will determine the level of care you require, including your own personal preferences – right down to how you like your cup of tea.

To complement this, we implement primary nursing groups. This means that registered nurses and carers are allocated to a group of residents – so where possible, you will be regularly cared for by the same person. Rest assured at all times you will be treated with the utmost dignity, kindness, and respect.

RESTHOME CARE

What you can expect

Our care centres are staffed 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. A clinical manager and unit coordinators oversee our trained carers and registered nurses in the delivery of your daily care. You will benefit from staff ratios that are amongst the highest in the retirement sector.

Each resident is unique, so by listening to your needs, we can customise your resthome care. Our custom-built electronic care app– myRyman Care – provides nurses and carers all the clinical and personalised care information they need, at the bedside. To further customise your individual care, we offer resthome care in the comfort of an assisted-living apartment. This allows you to remain in your own apartment, but with the extra support that you need.

Innovation through myRyman Care

At Ryman, our care plans come to life through our custom-made electronic care app, myRyman Care. Located on multiple devices dedicated to our care centres, the app enables nurses and carers to access and record daily care tasks and clinical data for you at the bedside. Meaning less time manually writing up notes, and more quality time caring for you. And should your primary carer be absent, everything is securely recorded on your myRyman device making the transfer of care seamless.

The cost of living in a Ryman Healthcare rest home includes two main components:

Base care fee
This fee covers daily clinical care, meals, housekeeping, and activities. It is set annually by Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora and applies to rest home-level care. If you require hospital or specialist dementia care, a government-funded top-up may apply.

Accommodation premium
Ryman rest home rooms exceed the government minimum standards, offering private ensuites, spacious layouts, and garden views. Because of this, an accommodation premium is charged. The amount to pay varies depending on the room and village you choose. Ryman offers flexibility in payment methods, and your local village manager can help you choose the best option for your situation.
