Our hospital forms part of our care centre, with rooms similar to our resthome. Hospital-level care provides for those who have significant medical needs, with most people requiring full assistance to move around.
We will assist you with all your needs, from showering and dressing to monitoring any chronic health conditions. We will also provide assistance with medications, wound care, continence management and any other health needs as required.
Using our award-winning myRyman Care app - located on multiple devices dedicated to our care centres - we create a detailed plan of care with you and your family. This will determine the level of care you require, including your own personal preferences – right down to how you like your cup of tea.
To complement this, we implement primary nursing groups. This means that registered nurses and carers are allocated to a group of residents – so where possible, you will be regularly cared for by the same person.

Our care centres are staffed 24-hours a day. Care is provided by trained carers and registered nurses and is overseen by unit coordinators and a clinical manager. A registered nurse is always on duty in the hospital, and whilst it is not an acute hospital, our on-call doctor service is also always available. You will benefit from staff ratios that are amongst the highest in the retirement sector.
Each resident is unique, so by listening to your needs, we can customise your care. Our custom-built electronic care app– myRyman Care – provides nurses and carers all the clinical and personalised care information they need, at the bedside.
Our staff work tirelessly to ensure your comfort and happiness and should your needs change, you have priority access to other levels of care – right there in the village.
At Ryman, our care plans come to life through our custom-made electronic care app, myRyman Care. Located on multiple devices dedicated to our care centres, the app enables nurses and carers to access and record daily care tasks and clinical data for you at the bedside. Meaning less time manually writing up notes, and more quality time caring for you. And should your primary carer be absent, everything is securely recorded on your myRyman device making the transfer of care seamless.

Private rooms at Ryman villages are superior to the government (DHB) service specification. Due to this, we charge an accommodation premium. The cost of the accommodation premium can vary depending on the type of room you choose. You have a choice in how you pay for the accommodation premium.
