Coffee cake in a mug

Calling all coffee lovers, this one’s for you. Next time you sit down for a rich, soothing morning coffee pair it with this delicious coffee cake. Caffeine-free, this cake was designed to complement a hot cup of coffee – and quite possibly overwhelm your senses.



  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Streusel topping:

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon


1. Thoroughly mix the flour, sugar, butter, baking powder, and cinnamon in a bowl.
2. Add the milk and vanilla and whisk to combine. Pour the cake mixture into a large mug.
3. For the streusel topping, thoroughly mix the butter, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
4. Sprinkle the streusel over the cake mixture. Microwave on high for 1 minute 25 seconds. Important: All microwaves are different, so cooking times may vary.
