Set along the Waikato River, Linda Jones Village offers a tranquil retirement lifestyle where you can meander along the beautiful river walkways or improve your swing at the nearby golf courses.
In true Ryman village fashion, a strong community connection has quickly developed at Linda Jones. It’s not uncommon to see residents gathering together in their apartment blocks or in the wider village. Friendships grow, leading to the emergence of skills and passions that are put to good use in the many activities on offer. The village bowling team has enjoyed success in tournaments, the music choir are harmonising on a regular basis, and the Men’s Shed enjoy the camaraderie as they tinker away at their latest projects.
That feeling of connection also extends to the unique bonds that our village team have developed with residents. It’s clear to see in their interactions, the smiles, the banter and the underlaying support that is always there.
Best of all, there’s a lifestyle option to suit everyone at Linda Jones Village. You can choose from a townhouse, an independent apartment or an assisted-living apartment. If your needs change over time, our state-of-the-art care centre provides 116 care rooms offering resthome, hospital and specialist dementia care. Linda Jones Village offers living choices to suit everyone, so residents can live the way they want and blaze their own trails. Our apartments and townhouses are light and spacious, with clean lines and a clever open plan design layout that provides an easy flow throughout.
If down the track you need more support, we offer assisted-living apartments and a range of care options. That freedom and flexibility is empowering for residents and knowing care can be dialled up as needed means, quite simply, ‘no worries’. It's all part of what we like to call the Ryman Difference.
Our pioneering approach to retirement living includes resident-friendly terms designed to protect you and your family. Our base weekly fee is fixed for the entire time you occupy your apartment or townhouse*, and our deferred management fee is capped at 20 percent – one of the lowest in the retirement sector.
These are just some of the ways we’re pioneering a new way of living for a new retirement generation.
*Some conditions apply.
Community is central to the lifestyle so we offer amenities that encourage that sense of togetherness, such as a café, dining room, bar, hair and beauty salon, and shop.
Retirement is a great time to sharpen your skills on the passions and pastimes that you love. Spend time enjoying the recital room, workshop, pool table, and library.
Incorporate regular activity into your everyday routine or enjoy the camaraderie of a little game time. Amenities include a swimming pool, spa pool, gym, and bowling green.
Care is not an ‘add on’ at a Ryman village, it is built into the fabric of our villages from the very beginning. It’s comforting for couples and friends to know they can still be near each other even if their health needs are different.
Linda Jones care centre offers a range of care options including resthome, hospital and specialist dementia care. Like all aspects of our villages, we constantly look for ways to improve both the care we provide and the innovation behind it. Care is customised using our myRyman care app and residents love the food in our seasonal Delicious menu, which is prepared fresh on site by village chefs.
Treat yourself to a pamper session in our hair or beauty salons or a sweet treat in the shop.
Lounge and dining areas provide spaces to relax and enjoy mealtimes. The food tastes great and the social interaction is good for the soul.
Tranquil outdoor spaces dedicated to our care residents allow you to relax and meet with family and friends.

That’s why each Ryman village is named after a Kiwi or Aussie trailblazer. Anthony Wilding, Lady Diana Isaac, Evelyn Page to name a few. They lived with passion and purpose, they pushed further, they went beyond the ordinary. That’s exactly what we strive to do every day at Ryman. To pioneer a new way of living, for a new retirement generation.
Former jockey Linda Jones bravely and fiercely blazed a trail for women in the horse racing world. Having started in the women-only ‘Powder Puff Derbies’, Linda went on to lead the campaign for equal rights in horse racing.
Her first application to be a jockey was turned down because she was too old (at 24), not strong enough, and married. But she persisted until she became the first New Zealand women jockey able to race against men in 1977. By 1978 she had achieved her first win of many, courtesy of her remarkable talent for riding horses. That year, she rode 18 winners and was second on the jockey’s premiership by December 1978. She was also the world’s first woman to win a derby in Trentham in 1979, on Holy Toledo.
In 1990, Linda Jones was inducted into the New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame as the first woman inductee. While an injury cut her career short after two record-breaking seasons, she continued to campaign for equality in horse racing.
