While winter delivers a playground of fresh air activities and cosy indoor fun, it doubles as cold and flu season. This soothing hot drink is a delicious addition to the fight against nasty seasonal bugs. With lemon and honey, it’s packed full of vitamins and amino acids to help protect your immune system. And the cinnamon perfectly rounds out this drink and its health benefits.
Ingredients
1 lemon, thinly sliced
1 cinnamon stick
1 cup water
1 tbsp of honey
Method
Add the water to a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Carefully slide each lemon slice onto the cinnamon stick then add to the pot. Reduce heat to a gentle simmer for 3-5 minutes.
Strain the liquid through a sieve into your serving glass. You may need a funnel if your sieve is larger than your glass opening. Immediately stir in the honey and return the cinnamon stick and lemon to the liquid to steep for two minutes, then remove. Your drink is ready to be enjoyed!
For an even quicker version, add the ingredients to a heatproof glass and pour boiling water from the kettle over the top. Allow steeping for 10 minutes before drinking. Thirsty for more? You can reuse the cinnamon a few times.
