  • How to choose the right assisted living facility in New Zealand

Assisted living in a serviced apartment is a type of residential care designed for older adults who may need some assistance but want to maintain their autonomy. Support with everyday tasks such as housework, home maintenance, and meals is provided in a safe, comfortable environment that encourages social engagement and personal autonomy.

This option bridges the gap between living at home and full-time care, making it ideal for people who want to age in place and maintain their independence for as long as possible.

  • ‘We came, we saw, we bought!'

Larry and Liz had the perfect vantage point to watch Bert Sutcliffe Village being built – from their home across the road! Despite that, they initially signed up for another village in Auckland.

“I’d come over to open days prior to it being completed and we were too young at that stage,” says Larry.

“I’d indicated to Leanne the Sales Advisor back then that if she had one with a view, on a corner, and we were old enough, then yeah… we’d be in!”

  • Tony and June ‘lucky’ to be together in their serviced apartment

Tony and June feel like the luckiest people at Princess Alexandra Village.

The couple have lived in their large, sunny serviced apartment for four years now and still can’t quite believe what a good score it was.

“It was the best thing we’ve done,” says June. “It’s north facing, so it gets lots of light, and it’s a good size, so I’ve got room for my card-making supplies.”

  • Ladies celebrate 10 years of friendship at Possum Bourne Village

Two Possum Bourne Village residents have two reasons to celebrate this month.

This 27 November will mark 10 years since Maureen Peach and Colleen Antonievich moved into the Pukekohe village with their husbands Graham and Des - and 10 years since the start of a beautiful friendship between them.

Being two of the original cohort to move into the village in 2015, Village Manager Ruben Kumar invited the pair to join him for a special afternoon tea to celebrate.
