Ryman Healthcare COVID Orange update - December 1

Dear residents and families,

Following the Government’s announcement this week, the traffic light or COVID-19 protection framework has been introduced and from Friday 3 December all villages except those located in Northland, Auckland, Gisborne or Whanganui will be placed in the ORANGE category.

This system is designed to offer protection to people, business and the health sector while we get used to living with COVID-19 in our communities.

This means there will be restrictions within our villages in the ORANGE phase in line with the Government’s guidelines for vaccinated and non-vaccinated people.

For Care Centre Residents:
We are reintroducing a visitor booking system with visiting hours from 10am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 5pm on weekends and public holidays.

Vaccinated visitors are welcome and are limited to two people at a time for a maximum of 30 minutes.

Please book your visits below on the Ryman Care Centre Booking System or by calling reception at the village from Thursday 2 December.

Make a Booking

Visitors will be required to check in as normal and scan the Covid Tracer app, show My Vaccine Pass, and provide photo identification. We are also requiring visitors, including school age children to wear a mask for the duration of visits. Masks, including for children, are provided at the village.

If you are unvaccinated or accompanying a child under 12 years, please phone the village directly to organise a time to visit, as we need to arrange this in the safest way possible.

If you have arrived in New Zealand within the last 14 days, please contact the village manager to discuss any specific requirements for your visit.

Sometime soon, we will introduce Rapid Antigen Testing. We will continue to keep you updated on this as we introduce new testing methods.

For residents living independently or in serviced apartments:
Our village centres, dining rooms and other facilities are open and residents/visitors will need to show a vaccination pass when requested. As outlined in the Government’s traffic light framework, access to these facilities is limited to vaccinated people only.

Our usual activities programmes and events will re-commence, including happy hours and morning teas. Mask wearing is essential except for when eating and drinking.

Student Volunteer Army shopping service
The Student Volunteer Army has let us know that its shopping service for residents will end this week.

We’d like to thank the fantastic students at the SVA for everything they’ve done for us this year.

Getting used to the traffic lights
Our residents and families have the reassurance of knowing that all our team members are vaccinated, and we will continue to take a range of precautions to maintain our COVID safe villages.

The main change everyone will notice is the introduction of a booking system for visiting care centre residents. With regional borders opening up again soon, and a busy summer ahead, we expect this system will be a big help to our teams to cope with requirements.

Handy information:

My Vaccine Pass
Vaccine passes can be downloaded by going to www.mycovidrecord.health.nz
and requesting the pass to be emailed to you.

You can then save this pass to your phone or computer or you can print out a physical copy.

If you do not have a smartphone or access to a computer, you can call 0800 222 478 to request that your ‘My Vaccine Pass’ is mailed out to you. If you don’t know your National Health Index (NHI) number, you will be asked a few questions to confirm your identity, such as your name and date of birth. Otherwise, you can also find your NHI number on your prescription bottles or containers or by calling your doctor or health services provider.

A reminder of the COVID-19 symptoms:
Common symptoms of COVID-19 are like those found with illnesses such as a cold or influenza. You may have one or more of the following:
• new or worsening cough
• sneezing and runny nose
• fever
• temporary loss of smell or altered sense of taste
• sore throat
• shortness of breat
Less common symptoms of COVID-19 may include diarrhoea, headache, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, malaise, chest pain, abdominal pain, joint pain or confusion/irritability. These almost always occur with one or more of the common symptoms.
