  • A grand opening for Kevin Hickman Village

‘A beautiful village that epitomises everything which is great about Ryman’, was how the family of Kevin Hickman described the village named after him at the official Grand Opening held yesterday.

Residents packed out the stunning village lounge, which overlooks the Riccarton Racecourse, alongside wife of the late Kevin, Joanna Hickman, his children, step-children, grandchildren and siblings - one of whom is also a resident - to celebrate the milestone event in the village journey.

The Hillary Hikers have embraced Bowel Cancer New Zealand’s Move Your Butt campaign in the best possible way – by moving their butts!

  • Raman puts connection at the heart of care

At Ryman Healthcare, person-centred care isn’t just a policy - it’s a long-held belief that everything we do should be ‘good enough for Mum and Dad’.

That idea still shapes how residents are cared for across Ryman villages today.

At Bruce McLaren Village, Special Care Unit Coordinator Raman Kaur brings that philosophy to life through genuine connection, empathy, and a deep respect for each individual.
