Individuals enjoy meaningful communication, which can even be lacking in established relationships.

The absence of this leads to loneliness which “increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and accelerates depression, dementia, and anxiety”.

For those of you unconvinced, a former US Surgeon General likened the health impact of loneliness to smoking 15 cigarettes a day!
