same village, different needs
Helen and her dog Choco are well-known for their daily walks around the village.
Helen’s a busy lady. When she’s not walking Choco, riding her bike or heading to the pool for a swim, she’ll be visiting her husband John in the village care centre, catching up with friends or cooking up a storm in her kitchen.
For Helen, a full life is one that is surrounded by family. When she first moved to the village, Helen’s husband John was being cared for at a different village. Now that he is living at village, it brings Helen and her family so much happiness and reassurance. “All the family cried when he moved in. They were so happy because it was such a beautiful thing to have him close by”.
Helen loves the convenience of being able to visit John whenever she likes. Like after dinner when she pops in and they watch TV together. Plus, she doesn’t have to worry about the drive home, “I just go down the lift, zip across the path and I’m home,” she says.
That sense of family has extended since Helen moved to the village. She loves having friends over to her townhouse or meeting for a coffee in the village café. Happy Hour is a lot of fun too, “I’m not a drinker myself, but I love the social aspect,” Helen explains. She often goes along with her sister who also lives at the village and will call on fellow residents along the way who she knows don’t like arriving by themselves.
Helen first set her sights on village while she and Choco watched it being built on their daily walks. It was the beginning of a journey where Helen would surround herself with all the things that will continue to enrich her life – family, friends, Choco and a beautiful community that she is proud to call home. This is Helen’s measure of a full life, one that she refers to as, “living the dream.”
