En face with Royal New Zealand Ballet

We’re always looking at ways to keep up with the growing number of passions and pastimes that Ryman residents pursue. However, a love of the ballet remains a true favourite. Which is why we’ve been proud partners of the Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB) since 2015.
Each year the Ryman Healthcare ballet season tours New Zealand’s main centres nationwide. Alongside this we bring the magic of the ballet into Ryman villages by creating themed activities and events. Dancers have even made special village appearances.
To offer our support from the ground roots, Ryman also sponsors RNZB dancer Madeleine Graham. Born and raised in Melbourne, Madeleine graduated from the Australian Ballet School in 2012 and joined the RNZB that same year. It is wonderful to be a part of Madeleine’s already successful career and to watch her continue to flourish as a dancer.

The Ryman Healthcare Season

Over the years, our season sponsorship has brought you ballet classics such as The Wizard of Oz, Romeo & Juliet and Sleeping Beauty. For the 2021 Christmas season A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be dazzling the stage where lovers, fairies, mischief and moonlight conspire in Shakespeare’s classic tale, vividly retold with sparkling steps and Mendelssohn’s famous score.

To celebrate our partnership, we involve Ryman villages throughout New Zealand by creating themed events and activities such as village balls, themed Happy Hours, quiz afternoons and visits from local ballet schools. We’re always amazed at the energy and enthusiasm residents and village team members bring to the ballet season events and activities. The magic of the ballet certainly captivates us.

Come along to the ballet

Subscriptions are currently available nationwide for the 2022 RNZB season. We are proud sponsors of The Ryman Healthcare season of Cinderella in 2022, which will celebrate the grand re-opening of Wellington's St James Theatre followed by a national tour.
