Wellington turned on the sun once again for the Rita Angus family fun day.

The village atrium, with its tropical broadleaf indoor garden plants and fishpond was the perfect setting for the jungle themed party. It’s a favourite day on the village calendar when relatives of residents and staff come together during the school holidays to celebrate families.

There were babies galore being handed from young to older hands and generations of families enjoying the day, along with adopted grandparents and extended families.

Some residents who didn’t have family there also joined in the fun and marvelled at the youngsters' energy on the bouncy castle.

The village activities team got into the spirit of the theme and braved the heat dressed top to toe in furry animal costumes! One was possibly on safari! The face-painting stand always had queues of children waiting patiently for their turn to glitter up and this year unicorns were all the rage!

Golf putting, quoits and Connect Four were popular indoor games, and under the shade in the garden the children could pet the rabbits and guinea pigs and even have a pony ride around the grounds.

Nutritious fresh fruit kebabs and water were on hand, and for those needing some extra sustenance the village kitchen supplied scrumptious chips and hot dogs.
Some happy little unicorns would have slept very well after their special day at Rita Angus!
