Diamonds shine at Logan Campbell

Jan and Stuart Diamond have been living at Logan Campbell for two years, and say they are loving the new village family they have gained.

“If we won Lotto, we still wouldn’t move anywhere. We would stay right here!” Says Jan.

Shifting from Mission Bay, the Diamonds realised all the kids had long left home, and they didn’t like the maintenance of a big property anymore.

“Even though we had people coming in to do stuff around the house, the maintenance was getting too much,” says Stuart.

The Diamonds were a big part of the Mission Bay community, owning and running the local pharmacy for 30 years.

“I was a chemist and handled the scripts, while Jan was a trained beauty therapist and handled the front-of-house, says Stuart.

“We were a great team, it worked brilliantly.

“We had great staff, great customers, and we had a great time. A lot of locals kept in contact after we sold the business.”

Through working in the pharmacy though, Jan realised she liked helping people and steered her career in a different direction.

“I studied to be a counsellor and did that for 20 years working with ACC sensitive claims,” says Jan.

After retiring and moving to Logan Campbell, the couple now spends half their time in the village, and half in Queenstown, where their family lives.

“It’s a wonderful life. We have a rural property in Queenstown with our daughter.”

They say the highlight of their Logan Campbell experience though, is the new friends they have made in the village.

“Not only the residents but the staff as well are just wonderful.

“We are like one big family here. We love Rebecca, and we are so impressed by her. At a function here at Logan Campbell she named every single resident."

The Diamonds say – there is something for everyone here too.

“For the men, there are the bowls, the darts, the gym, the woodworking, there is something different for everyone, says Stuart.

“And for the women, there are cards, knitting groups, Maj Jong, the hair salon, there is always fun things to do!” says Jan.

“If you’re in trouble, or if you have a worry. There is always somebody right here.”
