Grand Opening of Man Shed in Special Care

During October we had the grand opening of the “Man Shed” in our special care unit.  This shed was made to measure by the independent residents who constructed the building in their workshop at Jane Mander and then took it apart to get it up in the lift and put it back together again with the assistance of the residents in special care.

We made and occasion of the afternoon with a sausage sizzle and a few bevies, families and staff came along for support.  The weather turned out lovely and it was a magical day for all.

We believe that the man shed will help us to plan purposeful activities for the male residents, some have already “moved in” and have become attached to the shed, with one resident claiming the wheelbarrow.

We are very lucky to have the skills of the Jane Mander Village residents, as well as the man shed they have built custom seating for the bowling green and are currently constructing cafe tables and chairs for the village.

Now the men have their beautiful shed we are thinking of an special place for the ladies.....watch this space!
