Jane Winstone Retirement Village Shoe Boxes of Love for Christchurch

There was plenty of love at Jane Winstone for the victims of February's devastating earthquake stricken Christchurch. 24 gift filled shoe boxes of love were wrapped & ribboned ready to send down to Christchurch.

The project was initiated by resident Marlene Steele after reading about it in the local newspaper and it wasn’t long before other resident’s got on board turning Marlene’s garage into a workshop/storage room. Each shoe box contained a gift – it might have been baby clothes, books or something nice for the pantry.

Whanganui had produced the greatest number of shoe boxes in the country says MP Chester Borrows who popped up to Jane Winstone with a photo which was signed by himself and PM John Key of all the boxes collected in Whanganui.
