What a wonderful day we all had at our Mexican family fun fiesta.
It was a usual cloudy Wellington day on January 28th as the bouncy castle, animals, ride on electric cars and the band arrived to set up. The activities staff pulled out all the stops as they dressed up in there Mexican fiesta outfits.
The residents were so excited as they came into the community centre lounge with their family members. It was great to see the number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and even a great great grandchild. The children enjoyed face painting and decorating cupcakes inside. Outside hosted a vast range of farm animals for the children, including a pony. Children enjoyed bouncing on and off the bouncing castle and driving round and round in the electric cars. Laughter was heard as the kids banged into things. Another fun activity was sand play. Children and might I say adults built some houses, castles and other objects. The band played traditional Mexican music in the background throughout the whole event and family members, residents and staff danced till they could dance no more.
Lunch time brought nachos with sour cream, as well as in the afternoon some nice cold ice blocks. It was good to see so many get involved and so many happy faces.
