One memorable outing was to the Marlborough Sounds. One sunny summer’s morning we headed in a Party Bus to Havelock and on board was our armchair travel fairy, Roni and our activities elf, Pauline. This was to be a day of fun, laughter and excitement. We held quizzes and awarded lucky spot prizes in the bus. When we stopped, the last person back on board had to wear a large pair of elf glasses until the next stop. At the Havelock Marina we boarded a wonderful cruiser called the ‘Afinity’, which took us on a fabulous cruise of the Sounds.
At midday, we anchored in a cove and had brunch, which was bacon, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns followed by waffles, fresh fruit, cream and maple syrup plus refreshments. Delicious!
It was a superb, hot summers day and it was great to sit in the fresh air and admire how beautiful the top of the South Island is, but alas it was soon time to return home. So back to the Port and back on the Party Bus for our return trip home. A wonderful day was had by all.
