On a beautiful Anzac Day morning....

On a beautiful Anzac Day morning over 200 returned servicemen and women, residents, relatives, staff and friends assembled to commemorate the 99th anniversary of ANZAC Day.

In the days leading up to ANZAC Day the village paid tribute to our resident returned serviceman.

An amazing display of memorabilia and medals was viewed by many.

Residents, staff and friends were invited to leave a named poppy on our poppy board to commemorate someone they wished to remember.

The Service of Remembrance was filled with stories and reminders of those gallant men and women who served their country, some of whom did not come home.

The New Zealand and Australian flag were presented by a serving member of the Royal New Zealand Navy and a proud six year old girl, fittingly named Poppy, both of whom afforded the occasion the dignity and respect it deserved.

What a privilege it was to stand beneath the flags facing so many ex servicemen and women wearing their medals.

It was a privilege to be in your company and for those who served both here and in theatres of war, from the bottom of our hearts we thank you.
