Our village celebrated its 20th anniversary in November with a birthday bash and unveiled plans for an extensive refurbishment.
More than 300 residents and staff joined mayor Tim Shadbolt and Ryman managing director Simon Challies to mark the milestone with cake, bubbly and a party.
Our village namesake, Invercargill-born international ballet star Rowena Jackson, sent a special anniversary message from her home in Australia. “I just loved seeing the village and I remember the opening so well. It is just a great place.“If I was in Invercargill now, believe me, I would be well and truly entrenched in the Rowena Jackson village. I wish you a happy 20th anniversary. My Ryman score a hat-trick! goodness, I can’t believe it is 20 years already!’’
