Apartment resident Donald Skegg celebrated his 100th birthday with village friends. The special occasion was marked with a small gathering in the bar with drinks and nibbles and birthday cake. Donald was born in England, but having married a New Zealander (and fellow Air Force officer) moved to New Zealand soon after the war to become Sports Master at King’s College in Auckland. Donald taught at King’s for more than 30 years. When his wife Peggy died late in 1999, the decision to move to Dunedin was a simple one, as their two New Zealand-based children were both Professors at the University of Otago.
