Anzac Day

During April we played the music of the war years, so familiar to all, including it in sing-a-longs, Triple A classes and musical moments.

At the men’s club they enjoyed viewing the DVD of Warbirds over Wanaka. Many shared their own memories of war years.

At news and views they enjoyed the stories of our own war losses.

For craft two apartment ladies knitted poppies and engaged with Resthome residents, assisting them to knit their own poppies. Another group activity involved making a beautiful floral wreath to feature in our Anzac display. The finished article was something to be proud of, it looked great.

For the Anzac service the lounge was appropriately decorated, the flag, photographic and silk poppies, flowers, memorabilia, our own poppies and centre stage was the wreath.

Wally Driver conducted a very moving service giving us all time for reflection. Hymns led by the church choir and memories of the past heroes, readings and concluding with The Ode.
