Winter solstice celebrations

Our annual winter solstice event at Anthony Wilding Retirement Village was well attended by all staff, residents and family members. All of our lounges and dining areas were decked out in stunning red and gold decorations, white trees and snow flakes, of which the residents helped create.

Staff joined in the festivities by dressing in red and gold. However, the Canterbury lounge fluids lady Kaylin, decided to take dressing up to the next level by dressing as a snowman and decorating her cart in flashing lights and icicles, bringing joy to all.

There was a tasty winter menu produced for the midday meal, which was accompanied by pink bubbly and later dessert. In the afternoon the lounges were filled with the sweet aroma of mulled wine, a wonderful winter treat enjoyed by some. There was also a good variety of hot food platters.

All facility residents were entertained by an exciting array of musicians and singers. A highlight of the day for the Canterbury lounge residents was the Dutch Choir made up of 21 singers and a pianist.
