ANZAC Day holds great significance to all our residents here at Grace Joel, and we organised a wonderful Commemoration Day for everyone. We took two full vans of our men out together to enjoy a pub lunch out at the Cavalier Tavern on Collerge Hill. They all very much enjoyed the opportunity to sit together and chat over a cold beer and great food.
For the afternoon we were incredibly fortunate to be able to host the Royal Regiment of New Zealand Artillery Band. It was a full house in both our Community Centre and Village Lounge areas, and we were entertained with wonderful brass band favourites and we sang the national anthems of Australia and New Zealand with great pride. The band was a wonderful start to our weekly Happy Hour for our residents and guests and the band members were also invited to stay to help us remember such a special occasion.
