Chocolate shop visit

As part of our Engage programme one of the areas we look at are Sensational Senses – our senses help our brains to process information and understand the world around us. Research shows that sensory activities can help with relaxation, communication, improving appetite and socialisation.

Leading up to Easter and Mother’s Day the special care residents were inspired to take a drive to our favourite chocolate shop, Swiss Bliss in Waitoki. There we chose a selection of chocolates to take home for tastings. The flavours included; salted caramel, orange and cardamom, and chilli!

The chocolate led to stories and reminiscing – a great afternoon was had by all and the favourite…salted caramel.
