When we decided to move to a retirement village in 2013, Orewa was the only place we both wanted to move to as it is close to our family and friends. We decided Evelyn Page suited us best as it is located within easy walking distance from town, and has wonderful facilities and options. We sold our home and everything fell into place.
We moved in on a lovely sunny day, and about two weeks later we made our debut on the social scene – attending ‘Happy Hour’. That evening we were greeted at the door by a resident couple who invited us to join them and their friends for the occasion. Four months later, we consider those residents, along with several others, as good friends. Here in the village we have interests in common and more time to get to know other residents.
Our favourite village activities are croquet, bowls, card-making, swim-gym and Tai Chi. We enjoy long and short walks, and we use the park across the road as a short-cut to town or for a quick outing. We also enjoy the shops, cafés, and restaurants in Orewa. The winning restaurant however, has to be fine dining night at Evelyn Page.
As a newly retired couple, this is the ideal situation for us and we couldn’t be happier – Evelyn Page encourages us to live!
