The annual Anzac parade and service was yet again a very moving and humbling experience.
There were 150 people from every area of the village who attended and a group of veterans again from every area marched in to take front rows.
Our wonderful residents David Kimpton led our service, and Dorothy Waddel played the piano as we sang carols and the National Anthem.
We had Judy Owen from the Red Cross come and talk – she is a registered nurse who has spent her career travelling to war torn areas and she talked so eloquently and told us how she communicated to her family while she was away – all the time referring us back to what the young soldiers would have seen or felt.
Ron Cackett laid the wreath and Ross Nicholls read the Ode. Then the Last Post on the Bugle rang out and the colour party retreated to a well-earned drop of rum and a toast to their health.
