Tennis Fever at Evelyn Page

Tennis Fever has gripped Evelyn Page over the last few weeks with the ASB Classic tennis tournament in Auckland.

Karin, our resthome activities coordinator, asked the residents if they had any old tennis racquets we could look at and have a game with. The atrium was turned into centre court Orewa (not Wimbledon) and the ladies high tea had a look and took a trip down Memory Lane. We also had a game of tennis demonstrated by our care centre activities team.

Marie (pictured below) was especially interested, and on speaking to her family, turns out herself and her daughters had always loved and played tennis. Reminiscing or Memory Lane is a key part of our Engage programme and as well as the racquets the team had pictures of tennis dresses over the years which stimulated much discussion and debate over which era had the best – the hem lines had certainly changed.
