Edmund Hillary Retirement Village Steam Train Outing

What better outing for reminiscing the past than seeing the old and mighty stream trains, the most popular mode of transportation since late 1800’s until oil was first used.  It was a guided tour, wherein the history and technical details of different steam trains were discussed by the operations manager at Mainline Steam Trains in Parnell.

Residents enjoyed the outing thoroughly, complete with someone, no other than their Activities Coordinator,  who dressed-up in his Victorian outfit to give a “feeling” into the occasion.  Residents were also taken into vintage carriages, some with historical significance.  Most residents were sharing their childhood years when they took the steam trains to school, work, and out of town outings.
