Edmund Hillary Retirement Village Flower Arranging

On the 20th of May 2011, we had a flower arrangement activity held in the Serviced Apartments. Everyone had a good time, especially Joy Parker, who was once a florist.

Through the activity, she was able to reminisce her youthful days, as she quote: “When I was a little girl, I always pick up flowers on my way home and put them on a vase.” Joy Parker was trained in Auckland and had a very successful flower business in Pukekohe back then she says: “My mother had a lovely flower garden here in Edmund Hillary, the smell of fragrant blooms and the varieties of colourful petals that surrounded me had brought me back to my memories of my golden days of gathering flowers, cutting stems, tying bows and loving what I’m doing.”
