Edmund Hillary Retirement Village Bowls Tournament

In March our village was host to the final bowling tournament in the series between Grace Joel Retirement Village and Edmund Hillary Retirement Village.

This was the last in a series of four tournaments played over the course of the year between the two villages. They are organised by Brian Cato of Edmund Hillary and Jim Espic of Grace Joel Retirement Village.

The day began with a delicious morning tea followed by a scrumptious lunch at the end of the morning play. At the conclussion of afternoon play, a prizegiving ceremony was enjoyed by all in the Village Centre, accompained by delicious food and drinks.

Edmund Hillary Village bowlers emerged as the trimuphant winners with the most points overall through out the year.

The trophy can remain in its position in the Village Centre for another year. (What would we do without it at Happy Hours when we draw the winning raffle numbers out of it each week?)

Nigel Barnhill, Edmund Hillary Retirement Village Manger was on hand to award the trophy, which was accepted on behalf of the bowlers by Noel Gedye, who had been elected to General Manager of the team for the day.

Congratulations to all the players and good luck for the coming years tournaments. We are reminded of your good play every time we see the cup.
