Covid-19 update for residents and their families who live outside of Auckland

We are pleased to let you know that we will be re-opening our care centres outside of Auckland to visitors from 10am tomorrow (Saturday August 22).

We would like to thank you all for your cooperation since the COVID-19 alert levels changed on August 12.

We think the time is right to reopen to visits, with precautions in place.

All visitors to our care centres must check in at reception, sign a health declaration, have a temperature check, practise social distancing and we will supply a mask to be worn for visits. We ask that visits are restricted to one or two people for the moment, rather than in large family groups.

Our serviced apartment residents can also welcome visitors again, but we ask that these visitors also check in at reception and wear masks.

For our independent residents, outings, Triple A and group activities for less than 100 people will return, and our cafés, gyms, pools will be reopened. You will need to observe the social distancing rules.

The following precautions are in place from 10am on Saturday August 22:

For care residents and families:

  • Please check in at reception, fill in the usual health declaration, have your temperature checked and take a mask for your visit.
  • Check in with the Government’s COVID-19 Tracer app.
  • If you have visited Auckland recently, we ask that you avoid visiting for 14 days from the date you returned.
  • Follow the appropriate hand hygiene and social distancing requirements at Alert Level 2, which are listed below.

For serviced apartment residents:

Visiting is back to normal. We ask that visitors to serviced apartment residents check in at reception, fill out the health declaration, have a temperature check and wear a mask.

For independent residents:

Activities – with appropriate social distancing – will return next week.

If you have to leave the village we recommend that you practise social distancing and wear a face mask. We have good supplies of masks, just ask at reception if you need one.

We encourage residents to keep a log of visits and to use the Government’s COVID-19 Tracer app.

Let us know if we can help

We are pleased to be back open for care centre visits – we know this will be a big relief for residents and their families.

We simply ask that you take the precautions required to keep everyone safe.

It looks very likely that COVID is contained to Auckland, but we don’t want to take any chances.

Stay safe and thanks once again for your time and your cooperation.

Enjoy your weekend.

If you have any questions about any challenges you or a family member is facing, please talk to your village manager.

If you are concerned for the welfare of any of our residents, or you think they could do with a friendly call or visit from a member of our team, please do not hesitate to get in touch with either your village manager or our support team on residentsupport@rymanhealthcare.com

Any resident who needs counselling is welcome to call our OCP service on 0800 377 990.

For more general inquiries you can call 0800 588 222 or email residentsupport@rymanhealthcare.com

We are continuing to take a very conservative approach to COVID-19 – and we have had overwhelming support for this from both our residents and their families. We appreciate this.

Stay safe and thanks once again for your time and your cooperation.
