We wanted to update you following the new cases of COVID-19 in the community in South Auckland and the Government’s decision to put all of New Zealand, outside of the Auckland region, into COVID-19 Alert Level 2 until midnight on Wednesday February 17.
From tomorrow morning the following measures will be in place at our villages:
For care residents and families:
Our care centres are shut to outside visitors, however palliative or end-of-life care will continue to be allowed.
If you live in the village, we are also allowing spousal visits for resthome and hospital-level care residents.
Anyone visiting on this basis will be required to follow our strict infection control protocols, sign a health declaration, have their temperature taken on entry and wear PPE.
Our staff will continue to declare their health status, wear masks, have their temperatures checked each day and follow strict infection control practices.
They are going the extra mile to keep residents safe and comfortable, and you can contact the village to arrange Zoom meetings if you wish.
There is a Zoom device in every room, and we will be happy to arrange a call.
For serviced apartment residents:
For visits to serviced apartment residents in our villages, we ask that you limit these to essential visits only and complete a declaration and temp check for the moment because of their proximity to the care centres.
We can arrange Zoom calls to keep you in touch, grocery deliveries can be dropped to the village if you need them and meal services continue.
It is recommended that residents practise social distancing and wear a face mask in public.
We have good supplies of masks, just ask at reception.
For independent residents:
As part of the Level 2 restrictions we have suspended all village activities, including Triple A, morning and afternoon teas, for the moment.
Our hair and beauty salons are also closed.
We will keep everyone posted on when these can be restarted.
It is recommended that you practise social distancing and wear a face mask if you can when you are out. We have good supplies of masks, just ask at reception if you need one.
We encourage residents to keep a log of visits and to use the Government’s COVID-19 Tracer app.

Thanks again!
Like you, we will be keeping a close watch on developments, and rest assured we will be in touch if anything changes.
In the meantime, we’d like to remind you of the steps you can take to help:
- Please wash hands regularly, this is the best defence against the spread of viruses.
- If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, please get a test.
- Please use the COVID-19 Tracer App and enable the Bluetooth function.
- Please do not visit any of our villages if you are unwell at all. Postpone for another day!
Thanks for your cooperation as ever. We hope this is a short-lived change and we can return to normal.
Kind regards,
Gordon MacLeod
Cheyne Chalmers
