Ryman Healthcare COVID Auckland update - 2 November

Written by Ryman Healthcare
on November 02, 2021

Dear residents and family members,

The Government has announced that the Auckland region will move to a further step down of restrictions next week, from 11.59pm on Tuesday 9 November.

This means we stay as we are for now and look forward to some more freedoms in another seven days.

We will still be making the usual grocery deliveries, Happy Hour in a Bag and we have got more fantastic speakers lined up to keep you entertained. This week we’ve got sign language and yoga on the agenda, plus an exciting new baking competition.

Just a note before we move onto the updates, we encourage you to get in touch if you need any help, no matter how big or small the issue.

And if you, or someone you know, needs counselling, you are welcome to call our OCP service on 0800 377 990.

Alert Level 3, Phase 1: The key points
Care centre residents
Our village care centres closed to visitors. The only exceptions are visits for compassionate reasons, visits by our village residents to their spouses in our care centres, and visits to residents in end-of-life or palliative care. If you wish to arrange a visit under these circumstances, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Serviced Apartment Residents
The serviced apartments remain closed to visitors as with the rest of Auckland in this Alert level 3.1. However, we want to work with you to ensure your loved ones are receiving all of the social support they require. We are very happy to arrange visits on compassionate grounds and encourage you to talk to the village team if this is required.

We expect to be reviewing these restrictions next week, but in the meantime, please do not hesitate to speak with the unit coordinator who can help facilitate additional social interaction for residents who would like this.

Independent Apartment and Townhouse residents
Residents may wish to meet with another household bubble within the village in an outdoor setting. Alternatively, you may wish to meet up at a park or beach.

No more than two household bubbles should mingle and with no more than 10 people. As well as remaining in an outdoor setting, mask wearing and social distancing should still be adhered to.

With the temperatures warming up, you may wish to take a trip to a park or beach a bit further afield but still within the Auckland region.

Relatives are still welcome to drop any essential supplies to our village gates – and we will make sure they are delivered. Please label them clearly so our team can get them to their rightful owners.

Our teams are keeping our residents safe and entertained, and Zoom calls are available as an extra option for families to keep in touch.

Social distancing and masks
Just a reminder that, at Alert Level 3, residents are required to maintain social distance from other people not in your bubble. You are encouraged to stay in your bubble.

Residents are also asked to wear a mask or face covering when outside of home and to ensure it is on correctly, covering mouths and noses.

Please use the COVID-19 Tracer App and get tested if anyone has any symptoms.

What’s on this week
We have another great line-up of virtual events for you this week.

Thursday:
Tune in for a customised approach to yoga which allows each individual to connect to their body, mind and spirit through conscious movement and mindfulness. Lisa Tregenza embraces those new to yoga with Hatha inspired movement with a focus on alignment while providing extension for those with a little more experience.

The Great Ryman Christmas Bake Off
The Ryman Resident Experience team has joined with celebrity chef Allyson Gofton to bring you the Great Ryman Christmas Bake Off. The challenge is to create a sweet or savoury Christmas themed baking masterpiece.

There is no limit to how many entries to submit so this is your opportunity to go all out with your creativity and presentation.

Virtual Book Club
Calling all avid readers! We’re gauging interest in a virtual book club to connect residents across our villages who have a passion for reading. Please see the flyer for more details.
