Coco the lockdown cat back from ‘cabbatical’

Kilbirnie’s most famous cat is back – and she’s better than ever.

Coco, who became a popular addition to Rita Angus Retirement Village when she arrived just before the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020, has been away on a six month ‘cabbatical’ to different climes.

No one knows where the Queen of Rita Angus went, or what she did, and as usual Coco is keeping her secrets to herself.

However, what is for sure, is the residents at Rita Angus are pleased as punch to have her back after an anxious wait.

They’d almost given up hope when she sauntered back in as if nothing had happened.

“Our residents are delighted she’s back – maybe more delighted than the team,’’ Village Manager Chris Mulder says.

“We’ve noticed she’s a lot friendlier than she was and she’s obviously pleased to be back, living her best life in the atrium with food and water and attention. It is nice to have her back.’’

Coco shot to fame as the star of Coco The Lockdown Cat, a childrens’ book written by Ryman resident Lorraine Orman.

Coco became a mother in the village, raising her kittens Yumyan, Bo, Frankie and Kittycat before they left for forever homes.

A new edition of the book could be in the works, now she’s a little more well-travelled and less aloof after her long cabbatical.
