History

Shona McFarlane was well known as an artist, writer and broadcaster. She specialised in art at Dunedin Teachers College, and later studied in London at Hammersmith School of Art.

In 1974, Shona was awarded an MBE which was later followed by both a CBE and Governor General’s Art Award in 1994.

She was also selected as the 1999 recipient of the Communicator of the Year Award.
