Ngaio Marsh 1895 – 1982

Dame Ngaio Marsh was born in Christchurch and educated at St Margaret’s College and the Canterbury University School of Art. As a mystery novelist and dramatist, Dame Ngaio established an enviable and notable career.

Dame Ngaio was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1948 and was made Dame Commander of the British Empire in 1978. In 1977 she was made a Grand Master, by the Mystery Writers of America.
